C’est ici à Pleumeur-Bodou, au cœur de la Côte de Granit Rose, que la France érige une gigantesque antenne-cornet de 340 tonnes abritée par le Radôme, une énorme sphère de 50 m de haut.

Le 11 juillet 1962, l’antenne reçoit pour la première fois au monde des images télévisées en direct des Etats-Unis. Une première mondiale qui marque la naissance de la mondovision et ouvre la voie aux télécommunications spatiales.

It is here in Pleumeur-Bodou, in the heart of the pink Granite coast, that France erects a gigantic antenna-cone of 340 tons sheltered by the radome, a huge sphere of 50 m high.

On July 11, 1962, the antenna received live television images from the United States for the first time in the world. A world premiere that marks the birth of the worldwide and paves the way for space telecommunications.
